All of these hacks involve you adding code to your WordPress theme's functions. php file. If you don't know what or where it is, it's probably best to avoid these tips for now. Keep in mind that if you are using an "out-of-the-box" theme, these settings may be overwritten the next time you update your theme. It's not a problem if you use your own custom theme or if you use a child theme. As I've recently created a few large corporate websites, I wanted to ensure a professional feel throughout the process, and it simply had to mean that "Hello,..." welcoming the change. There are many examples on the internet that attempt to employee data implement this. Unfortunately, in my experience, they didn't work with recent versions of WordPress, until I came across this code snippet from Greg Kerstin that does the job! I came across this on the WP Beginner site. The problem with that is that there is already a website there! How can I continue to serve the current static site to visitors. But let some people drop by to see the WordPress website? Also, how do you then make the site live automatically on the date it goes live? And how do you avoid having to modify one of the URLs so that the SEO is not affected? The good news, I've found a really good way to achieve all of this (helped by a rather splendid Stack Overflow user, Jon Lin in this post) I've seen quite a few examples that rely on IP addresses to block or let passing visitors.
