We all have the phone number list best intentions of communicating regularly with our teams about what content is performing well in writing. Yet too often these intentions are overtaken by day-to-day activities. A systematic approach to editorial reporting can, however, make action possible. And after all, we know that a documented phone number list content marketing strategy makes content marketing programs more effective. Imagine what a documented editorial reporting plan could do for your phone number list team. I admit I was as guilty as the phone number list next person leading a content team. While I speak regularly with everyone phone number list on our CMI team, my formal updates on our content progress have been hit or miss. Enter, my new systematic editorial update. This is a Google Slides presentation that details our key metrics and, more importantly, explains how the team can use each piece phone number list of data to take action. Work in progress, this collaborative document answers questions from the editorial team while empowering me. Notes and cheat sheets Before we dig into the phone number list details, here are a few things to consider along with a quick data checklist for your reference: I do not include data for the phone number list purpose of reporting data. Each slide includes an orange box that explains how I use this data. I don't want everyone on the phone number list team to have to turn to five sources to get the information they need. Each slide includes a source row so everyone knows where the data came from. I'm considering two versions of this update - one for the phone number list editorial team who like lots of detail, and a shorter, simpler version for other teams in the company so they can understand trends. Right now I use one presentation for all. Although you can use it as a template, you should personalize what's important to your team. I generally look at performance year-over-year rather than month-over-month to account for the phone number list varying number of days per month (e.g. it's easy for March numbers to outperform those of February because March still has two or three days left) and seasonality (for example, our numbers always drop during the December holidays). Update as much as possible so that someone (not you) can help you collect the phone number list data. Of course, you have to add the analysis. Update on main objectives The phone number list initial slide should include an update on the main goals of your content marketing program. What impact do you want your content efforts to have on your phone number list business? (Understanding what success means is a key differentiator between effective marketers and their less effective peers.) For CMI, it's things like email subscribers, CCO subscribers, subscribers to events and students of CMI University. Conversion Champion Messages Conversion champions are posts that convert better than other posts (hat tip to Andy Crestodina who I believe coined that phrase). Of course, conversion will mean different things phone number list to you, but at CMI we track new email subscribers. How to use this data: If you only track one phone number list data per month, this should be it. While it's interesting to see which posts drive traffic and social shares, what's really helping you achieve your goals? At CMI, our conversion champions are the phone number list pages with the highest percentage of traffic converted into email subscribers (conversions divided by page views). When we prioritize posts to re-share phone number list on social media or add to high-traffic pages, we pull from our list of conversion champions.
